IBI Group in collaboration with Atkins succeeds in securing another local authority project.
North Somerset County Council has commissioned a RouteMapper video survey of their entire road network including all A, B, C and Un-Classified Roads. In total 1,225km of road network will be surveyed, a high proportion of which are contained within busy urban environments.
Urban networks provide unique challenges in terms of traffic and maintaining accurate positioning due to inadequate GPS. However, the RouteMapper team has extensive experience in these environments, utilising high end inertial navigation systems, ensuring the highest quality imagery and positioning is retained.
The aim of the commission is to provide North Somerset County Council with an accurate and efficient method of populating the Council’s Pavement Management System (PMS), Pitney Bowes Confirm™, with a maintainable inventory of highway related assets obtained from the video.
