North Yorkshire County Council commission Atkins and RouteMapper

June 15, 2010

In Partnership with Atkins Asset Management Team North Yorkshire County Council has commissioned IBI Group to carry out a RouteMapper video survey of their road network including all A, B, C and Unclassified roads.

In total 8,400km of road network will be surveyed. To our knowledge tthis is the largest video survey commission that has ever been undertaken in the UK!

Such a large survey, gives rise to many unique challenges for the team in terms of network complexity and management of data, which we are tackling with the professionalism and dedication our clients have come to expect from us.

The aim of the commission is to populate the Council’s Pavement Management System (PMS) Symology’s INSIGHT™ with a maintainable inventory of highway related assets obtained from the video. Thus enabling the Council’s Transport Asset Management Plan (TAMP) objectives to be achieved in the area of asset valuation.

Atkins forethought in utilising the RouteMapper system video in conjunction our RouteMapper Version 4.0 desktop software will enable them too efficiently and effectively digitise the required highway assets within record time!

Not withstanding the inventory, North Yorkshire County Council’s further use of the network video provides a clear, unequivocal visual record of the network enabling many other maintenance related activities to be performed over the coming years.
